Learning and experiences connecting

forests, oceans, and people

OSSU (Ossu) is

“Okayama Sustainable Satoyama / Satoumi University,” is a community where you can learn about and experience the rich environments of satoyama and satoumi, and the coexistence of nature and people in Okayama Prefecture.

Fun family-friendly programs to learn about the formation of Japan's natural environment;

Programs tailored to the objectives of companies, organizations, and schools;

Programs for international visitors to experience the coexistence of nature and people;

Programs for those wishing to live in harmony with nature in Okayama;

Programs for those seeking to explore environmental issues.

This platform connects three areas, Maniwa City, Bizen City, and Kasaoka City, to explore the vital cycle of nutrient-rich water flowing from forests and limestone caves to the sea. Visitors can enjoy learning about and experiencing the livelihoods of mountain guardians and sea guardians who live there.

The greatest appeal of this project is experiencing this grand saga of water’s chain as a single story by visiting three locations.
